Hello and welcome - I’m so glad you’re here!
I’m Maureen MacKenzie, a Canadian artist based in Argyle, Nova Scotia, Atlantic Canada. I paint original coastal and landscape art inspired by the natural beauty of the Maritime provinces — from rugged shorelines to green farmlands and quiet seaside skies.

Growing up in a rural fishing community in southwestern Nova Scotia, I learned to see beauty in everyday coastal life. My work reflects that connection — capturing maritime sunsets, rocky beaches, quiet harbours, and the rich colours of the East Coast. Many of my paintings began with photos taken by my husband — a lobster fisherman who brings home stunning views from his days on the water.

When I’m not in my studio, you’ll find me reading, playing the piano, running, or playing at the shore with my granddog.  I’m a proud mom of two grown sons and share my home with two feline fur babies. Travel has also become a source of inspiration, with trips to European countries including a recent trip to Hawaii.

Thank you for visiting my online studio. I hope you enjoy the artwork and find something that resonates with your own connection to the sea, nature, or a sense of place. — Maureen

I work primarily in heavy-body acrylics and oil paints, creating pieces that are full of texture and light. In addition to original paintings, I offer museum-quality giclée fine art prints, greeting cards, and vinyl stickers so that anyone can bring a touch of Atlantic Canada into their home.
